Aloha, and Happy Independence Day!
 
Please enjoy a safe 4th of July holiday as we all celebrate how fortunate we are to live in this great country and have the choices we do!  This month I'm going to leave off the statistics and report in a more generalized way what I see as the "state of the Maui Real Estate market".
 
Reality is, Maui continues to be one of the #1 destination locations in the world.  We have the climate, the feeling of safe harbor, it's the United States, and we don't get hurricanes!   What this all channels down to is the fact that Maui Real Estate will be in demand as long as there are people with means and dreams looking for the perfect vacation/second-home/retirement location.  Yes, we have had price adjustments in some segments of our market--primarily single family homes in the $700,000 to $1,000,000 price range, with asking prices dropping back to last year's sale prices, but our high-end properties and better vacation rental properties are actually still appreciating, though at a considerably slower pace than we've seen for the past 4-5 years.  With interest rates creeping up, today's prices may very well still look like a bargain next year!  I just don't see this market dropping the way it perhaps has in many mainland communities.
